Foreword

This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Private Security Professionals of America (“PSPA”, “We” or “Us”) collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users (each, a "User") of the MyPSPA.org website ("Site"). This Privacy Policy applies to the Site and all products, goods, and services offered by PSPA.

Personal Identification Information

We may collect personal identification information from Users in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Users visit our site, register on the site, place an order, subscribe to ancillary services, respond to a survey, fill out a form, and in connection with other activities, services, features or resources we make available on our Site. Users may be asked for the following, which includes, but is not limited to: name, email address, mailing address, telephone number, and credit card information. Users may, however, visit our Site anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Users only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Users can always refuse to supply personal identification information, except that it may prevent them from engaging in certain Site related services/activities.

Users should also be aware that when they voluntarily disclose personal information (such as user name or email address), that information can be collected and used by others and may result in unsolicited messages from other parties.

Non-Personal Identification Information

We may collect non-personal identification information about Users whenever they interact with our Site. Non-personal identification information may include the browser name, the type of computer and technical information about Users means of connection to our Site, such as the operating system and the Internet service provider’s utilized and other similar information.

How We Use Collected Information

We collect and use Users personal information for the following purposes:

To personalize user experience
We may use information in the aggregate to understand how our Users as a group use the services and resources provided on our Site.

To improve our Site
We strive to improve our website offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from Users.

To improve customer service
User information helps us to more effectively respond to customer service requests and support needs.

To process transactions
We may use the information Users provide about themselves when placing an order only to provide service to that order. We do not share this information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to provide the service.

To administer a content, promotion, survey or other Site feature
To send Users information User agreed to receive about topics we think will be of interest to them.

To send periodic emails
The email address Users provided for order processing, will only be used to send them information and updates pertaining to their order. It may also be used to respond to their inquiries, and/or other requests or questions. If User decides to opt-in to our mailing list, they will receive emails that may include company news, updates, related product or service information, etc. If at any time the User would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include detailed unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email or User may opt-out from all or specific emails by visiting the members “Virtual Office” (Manage Your Account) file folder.

How We Protect Your Information

We adopt appropriate data collection, storage and processing practices as well as security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction of Users personal information, username, password, transaction information and data stored on our Site.

Sensitive and private data exchange between the Site and its Users happens over a SSL secured communication channel and is encrypted and protected with digital signatures.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. Where you have chosen a password for access to certain parts of our Site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. You should not share your password with anyone. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure (for example, if you feel that the security of any account you have with us has been compromised), please immediately notify us of the problem by contacting us at Corporate@MyPSPA.org.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not sell or rent Users personal identification information to others. We may share generic aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, trusted affiliates, and advertisers for the purposes outlined above. We may use third party service providers to help us operate our business and the Site or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out emails, newsletters, surveys, or telephonic communications.

We make limited data (member information) available through the Site’s on-line “Membership Directory” for viewing by other members of the Site. On occasion, we may also provide limited data to approved third parties that offer products and services which we believe to be beneficial to our members. Limited data includes all voluntary personal information (with the exception of credit card information) which member has supplied to us.

We may provide personal information to our affiliates or other trusted businesses or persons to process it for us, based on our instructions and in compliance with our Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

Unfortunately, due to the existing regulatory environment, we cannot ensure that information will never be disclosed in ways not otherwise described in this Privacy Policy. By way of example (without limiting the foregoing), third parties may unlawfully intercept or access files, transmissions or private communications. Therefore, although we use industry standard practices to protect information, we do not promise, and you should not expect, that your personally identifiable information or private communications will always remain private.

User can always review, correct, update, or change their personal information at any time, or opt-out of our direct marketing efforts, by changing the relevant settings in their “Virtual Office” (Manage Your Account) file folder, or by e-mailing us at Corporate@MyPSPA.org.

In the event PSPA is ever sold, we reserve the right to transfer ownership of our e-mail list and other personally identifiable information to the acquiring company. Should this happen, we will instruct the new owners to contact Users via e-mail to notify Users of the change.

Credit Card Information

We do not disclose credit card account information provided by applicants, members, or customers other than during times of payment transactions. When applicants, members, or customers choose to pay using a credit card, we submit the information needed to obtain payment to the appropriate third-party clearinghouse. All credit card transactions are secured by industry-leading SSL encryption.

Please note we do not store credit card information in our database or on our Site.

Third Party Websites

Users may find advertising or other content on our Site that link to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors, and other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our Site. In addition, these sites or services, including their content and links, may be constantly changing. These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including websites which have a link to our Site, is subject to that website's own terms and policies.

Web Browser Cookies

A cookie is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser from a website's computer(s) and is automatically stored on your computer. You can configure your browser to accept all cookies, reject all cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. (Each browser is different, so check the "Help" menu of your browser for cookie settings.)

Our Site may use "cookies" to enhance User experience. Note setting your browser to reject all cookies may make some parts of our Site inaccessible.

Advertising

Ads appearing on our site may be delivered to Users by advertising partners, who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile non-personal identification information about you or others who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

Minors / Children

With respect to minors/children, our Site is not intended to be accessed or utilized by persons under the age of 18. We do not solicit any information from minors under 14 years of age. We will not knowingly collect personal information from minors without insisting that they seek prior parental consent if required by applicable law. We will only use or disclose personal information about a minor to the extent permitted by law, to seek parental consent pursuant to local law and regulations or to protect a minor.

If you are a parent or guardian of a minor under the age of 13 and believe he or she has disclosed personal information to us please contact us at Corporate@MyPSPA.org. A parent or guardian of a minor under the age of 13 may review and request deletion of such minor’s personal information as well as prohibit the use thereof.

International Users

The Site is intended for United States residents. Your personal information will be collected and stored in the United States, and subject to the laws of the United States. If you reside in a country outside the United States, please note that the data protection and privacy laws of the United States may not be as protective as the laws in your country. You agree that the laws of the United States will govern the processing of your personal information, including any obligations of security and third party sharing.

The Law / Legal

We can (and you authorize us to) disclose any personal information about you with law enforcement agencies, companies, organizations or individuals outside of our organization if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to: meet any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request; enforce applicable terms of service, including investigation of potential violations; detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues; protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of our organization, our users or the public as required or permitted by law.

We have developed this Privacy Policy as a manifestation of our firm commitment to disclose our current privacy and confidentiality policies to you. However, the Internet is rapidly evolving. With this in mind, we reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy at any time in its sole discretion and without notice. Miscellaneous

If any portion of this Privacy Policy is deemed unlawful, void, or unenforceable by any court or arbitrator, this Privacy Policy as a whole shall not be deemed unlawful, void, or unenforceable, but only that portion of this Privacy Policy that is unlawful, void, or unenforceable shall be stricken from this Privacy Policy. The headings contained in this Privacy Policy are for convenience of reference only, are not to be considered a part of this Privacy Policy, and shall not limit or otherwise affect in any way the meaning or interpretation of this Privacy Policy.

All covenants, agreements, representations and warranties made in this Privacy Policy, as may be amended by PSPA from time to time, shall survive your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and the termination of this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy represents the entire understanding and agreement between you and PSPA regarding the subject matter of this Privacy Policy, and supersedes all other previous agreements, understandings, and/or representations regarding the same.
